At the very beginning of this movement a lot of my friends were laughing at me when I had the idea to organize an occupation in the center of the city where I live in (Zürich, Switzerland).
You have to know that swiss people are very tense, humouless, nervous and they are not easy to be persuaded to participate in anything that could change either our country or the whole world.
Many of them kept saying: "What's happening right now in the USA does not affect us at all. We don't have the same problems as they do. Switzerland is famous for its banks and efficient financial system.
You're having a pretty nice life, aren't you Sasha? So why care about other issues? We don't need to upset folks just because "being part of something" could probably change the world and just to forewarn you: it won't. It won't change absolutely nothing."
I nearly hit rock bottom after so many negative statements.
Still, I wouldn't claim that having inherited the rebellious side from my mother is a curse since I'm surrounded by unbelievably stupid and ignorant people. It's the day-to-day fight with classmates, society and everything that seems unbreakably rigid that makes me grow bigger every day.
Anyway, I found out that the news had already spread around and that a certain huge group of like-minded people were already in the middle of planning an event. And then it happened:
On the 15th of Octobre a whole crowd was gathered in the heart of Zurich, the so-called "Paradeplatz" which is also the hub of the two most known banks of Switzerland: UBS and Credit Suisse. It was astonishing. I never thought that there were so many men, women and youngsters out there who have come together to protest against corruption, capitalism, redundancy and the 1% who honestly think that they could secretly reign over the world without giving a damn about the opinion of millions and millions of people.
Here are a few pictures of (me holding the poster and) the "Occupation Day":

My poster says: "Take what you need: Money, Justice,
Job, Safety, Free Health Care Insurance,
an one way ticket out of the Matrix
I found an Anon!
"Dear bankers
Dear politicians
We do not forgive
We do not forget
Expect us."
"Money is just an invention"
So spread the news, the world is about to change! I can feel it and you're supposed to do so, too!
The next date for a second worldwide "Occupation" it the 11/11/11. Mark the day with a red, fat felt pen!
